Terms of Service

Last updated: August 26, 2026

1. Agreement to These Terms

Welcome to Inmate Reviews. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Inmate Reviews, LLC (“Inmate Reviews,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) covering your use of our website, including all pages, listings, reviews, and services offered through it (together, the “Service”). By visiting the Service, creating an account, posting content, or purchasing advertising, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who May Use the Service

You may browse the Service if you can form a binding contract with us and are not barred from using it under applicable law. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service and at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian’s permission) to create an account, post a review, or purchase advertising. When accounts are available, you are responsible for your account credentials and for everything done under your account.

3. Our Mission and What the Service Is

Inmate Reviews exists so that incarcerated people and their families can share first-hand experiences with jails, prisons, detention centers, and related facilities and agencies, and so the public can read those experiences. The Service is free to use. We earn revenue from advertising, including Preferred List placements.

4. Your Content

“Your Content” means anything you submit to the Service — reviews, replies, messages, business information for advertising, and anything else you post. You own Your Content. By submitting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, store, display, reproduce, translate, excerpt, and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the Service. You are solely responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the right to post it and that it complies with these Terms.

Reviews are displayed without your name. Protecting reviewer anonymity is core to our mission; however, you should not include information in a review that identifies you if you wish to remain anonymous, and we may be required to disclose account information in response to valid legal process.

5. Review and Reply Guidelines

  • Write only about your own first-hand experience, or the first-hand experience of an immediate family member you assisted (and say so).
  • Tell the truth. Do not exaggerate, fabricate, or mislead.
  • Reviews and replies are limited to 1,000 characters each.
  • You may attach a GIF to a review or reply. GIFs are provided by a third-party service (KLIPY), are filtered for family-safe content, and remain subject to that provider’s own terms. We may remove any GIF at our discretion.
  • Do not post another person’s private information — full names of non-public individuals, health information, booking numbers, home addresses, phone numbers, or anything similar.
  • No threats, harassment, hate speech, or content that celebrates or incites violence. No sexually explicit content.
  • No promotional content: do not review a facility or service you own, work for, or compete with, and do not accept or offer anything of value in exchange for a review.
  • Replies from facilities, agencies, or businesses must be respectful, must not disclose private information about a reviewer or any person in custody, and are held to these same guidelines.

We may remove, refuse, or restore any content at our discretion, including content that violates these guidelines, and we may suspend repeat violators. We do not undertake to review all content, and we are not obligated to remove content just because it is negative.

6. Prohibited Conduct

  • Impersonating any person, facility, or organization.
  • Posting fake reviews, coordinating review campaigns, or using multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or visibility.
  • Scraping, harvesting, or bulk-downloading content or data from the Service without our written permission.
  • Interfering with the Service’s operation, probing or circumventing security measures, or introducing malicious code.
  • Using the Service to break the law or to help others do so.

7. Advertising and Preferred Lists

Advertising and Preferred List placements are offered for a yearly fee (currently $375 per year: $1 per day plus a $10 processing fee), payable in advance. Every placement runs through March 1 of the calendar year after it is purchased and is due for renewal on that date, regardless of when during the year it was purchased. The fee is not prorated for placements purchased later in the year or close to a renewal date. All advertising purchases are final: there are no refunds once payment is submitted, in whole or in part, including if your placement is removed for violating these Terms. The price must be paid in full: a payment of less than the full fee does not start any advertising and is not refunded; you may send the remaining balance to complete the purchase. When paying through Cash App or Venmo, you must include your company name and application reference in the payment note, and a payment we cannot match may be delayed. We make no promise of success, leads, or business results from any advertising or promotion. We may reject, edit for format, or remove any advertisement at our discretion. A Preferred List placement is paid advertising and is not an endorsement, certification, or recommendation by Inmate Reviews. Advertisers are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of their listings, including compliance with any professional advertising rules that apply to them (for example, attorney or bail bond advertising regulations in their state).

8. Facility Information

Facility and agency information on the Service (addresses, phone numbers, leadership, operators, and similar details) is compiled from public sources. It may be incomplete, outdated, or contain errors, and it can change without notice. Always confirm critical details — such as visiting rules, mailing addresses, and deposit procedures — directly with the facility. If you spot an error, please use the “Report incorrect info” link so we can fix it.

9. Reviews Are the Opinions of Their Authors

Reviews and replies reflect the views of the people who wrote them, not the views of Inmate Reviews. We do not verify the claims made in reviews and do not vouch for them. You may not imply our endorsement of any review, and you agree not to hold us responsible for the content of any review or reply.

10. Our Intellectual Property

The Service — including our name, logo, design, text we authored, and the selection and arrangement of content — is protected by intellectual-property laws and belongs to Inmate Reviews, LLC or its licensors. Except for Your Content, you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission. You may share links to pages on the Service.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service contains links to third-party websites and services — facility websites, advertiser websites, map directions, and payment providers, among others. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites, their content, or their privacy practices. Payments for advertising are processed by third-party payment services under their own terms.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION ON IT IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INMATE REVIEWS, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE LIMITS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Inmate Reviews, LLC from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

15. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service or its users. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including licenses to Your Content, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) survive.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above, and material changes may be announced on the Service. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
